Radiesse®
Radiesse®
Overview
Radiesse® is a synthetic dermal filler made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel— a biocompatible substance that's identical to what's naturally found in the body.

It has been clinically tested extensively for years, with excellent safety and efficacy results. Radiesse® dermal filler is used for soft tissue augmentation and to treat skin folds and wrinkles. It may be used in an array of treatments for correcting the signs of aging or adding natural contours to the face without invasive surgery.

Hyaluronic acid and collagen in the skin
How Radiesse® Works
Radiesse® is comprised of patented CaHA microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. When injected into the skin, these microspheres initially perform as a filler; they immediately provide facial volume to safely contour, correct, and beautify facial features. Over time, your body will gradually absorb the gel carrier, but the very tiny, smooth microspheres remain.

Unlike other fillers, Radiesse® continues to work over time. With its patented microsphere technology, it starts a process called neo-collagenesis, stimulating your body to produce new collagen and encouraging collagen to grow around the injection area. Radiesse® dermal filler actually helps your body create its own naturally younger look.

Dermal filler injection
What to Expect
Radiesse® is injected under the skin in a continuous stream through a very fine needle. This procedure typically runs 15–40 minutes per session. A topical or local anesthetic may be applied. Treatment requires little to no downtime, and in most cases, patients return to normal activities almost immediately after treatment. There's virtually no risk of allergic reaction, and there have been very few side effects reported in clinical trials and actual use.

Effectiveness and Results
Radiesse® injections have been shown to last for several years. However, individual results may be affected by age, skin type, lifestyle, and muscle activity. Some patients achieve an optimal correction on their first injection, while others may require additional injections to achieve the best results.

Treatment with Radiesse® can be performed during a lunch hour, and you'll see results right away. The long-lasting effects of Radiesse® may also reduce the need for retreatment.

Possible Side Effects
There have been very few side effects reported with Radiesse® treatment. However, you may experience some common injection-related reactions, such as mild irritation, swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site. These conditions typically resolve themselves within 1–2 days.
